Author Biography

Marija Puipaitė

Marija Puipaitė received a BA in product design from the Vilnius Academy of Arts in 2010 and completed her MA in the Contextual Design Department of the Design Academy Eindhoven in 2014. Currently, she is a PhD student in design at the Vilnius Academy of Arts and a lecturer at the Design Department. Since 2015, she has been participating in international exhibitions. Marija uses the human body as a starting point in her work. This way, she aims to avoid subjective design solutions and the result seems to be more acceptable and objective. Moreover, the created object can be perceived, understood, and appreciated intuitively. Whether furniture or jewellery, it possesses an intimate, organic connection with its user. Since 2017, next to her creative practice, Marija has been designing pieces and curating design exhibitions in collaboration with Vytautas Gečas.
