Author Biography

Eric Landowski

is a student and associate of Algirdas Julius Greimas, one of the most prominent representatives of the Greimas school of semiotics. From 1973 to 2013, he worked at the Sciences Po – Paris Institute of Political Studies (CEVIPOF) and taught for a long time at both the University of São Paulo and Vilnius University. Landowski mainly specialized in the semiotic analysis of social relations, focusing on discourses and practices. His key books on the subject include La Société réfléchie (1989), Présences de l’autre (1997), Passions sans nom (2004), Les interactions risquées (2005), and Prasmė anapus teksto: sociosemiotinės esė" [Meaning Beyond the Text: Sociosemiotic Essays] (translated by Paulius Jevsejevas; 2015).
